This will be the Official Page of the Briggs Canyon Railroad. It is a Class II Railroad (modeled here in 1/8 scale) set in NE Oklahoma that bridges the BNSF (formerly ATSF) with the UP through a canyon that neither Class I RR wanted to tackle due to the cost involved with either blasting canyon walls to make wider radius curves and easier grades, or only running smaller equipment through the route. The Briggs Family accepted the challenge to forge this canyon, and built their railroad in 1887, a full two years before the Oklahoma Land Run opened the area for settlement.
The canyon was named after the Briggs family, and they even settled a town there in the heart of Echo Valley which is located almost dead center of the canyon. Not only was it a very cost-effective way to interchange traffic between the two larger railroads, but industry started booming there as well. Coal was even discovered and mined successfully for many years, and made a lot of money for the townsfolk.
BCRR has always purchased their locomotives secondhand from it's neighboring Class I's and a few from other railroads that have failed over the years.
So, sit back, relax, grab a cold one (or a nice hot cup of coffee...my favorite), and watch as the tale of the Briggs Canyon Railroad continues to unfold...
